With its unprecedented impact on the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has left many urgently seeking help and treatment. BAPS Charities has mobilized its volunteers across the country and around the world to provide support during these trying times. At the forefront of the pandemic are the frontline workers who are selflessly sacrificing not just time away from their loved ones but putting their own well-being at risk to serve their communities. In gratitude and recognition of the heroic services provided by frontline workers, volunteers of BAPS Charities in Hartford, CT, donated 600 KN90 masks, 100 KN95 masks, 1550 surgical masks, 550 handcrafted cloth masks (as per CDC guidelines), and 200 ounces of hand sanitizers on May 1, 2020.
Accepting the BAPS Charities donation on behalf of the Hartford Hospital was Adam Steinberg, DO, Vice President of Medical Affairs. Dr. Steinberg remarked, “Wow…Thank you very much for your generosity and effort…much appreciated.”
“I would like to extend warm thanks for your thoughtful gift of cloth and N95 masks. As our staff battles the COVID-19 outbreak, your gift will help them care not only for the safety of our patients and our caregivers but of the greater community. We could not be more grateful,” said Carol Garlick, Vice President of Philanthropy at Hartford Hospital.
Beyond the recent donation, BAPS Charities has organized and implemented several online awareness campaigns for the community on how to stay healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers from locations throughout the world are continuously assessing the situation in order to best help local communities.
