On the joyous occasion celebrating the centenary of the inspirer of BAPS Charities H.H Pramukh Swami Maharaj, on 7th December 2021, the BAPS Charities Nairobi chapter visited Dream Children’s Home in Ngong town. The center currently cares for a total of 120 orphaned children from the age of 4 years to 19 years. The Home is founded and run by Mrs. Rachel Gichia, who the volunteers were very humbled to meet during the visit. She manages the children’s home with a team of support staff that work tirelessly for the children.
The home started with a single child being supported by Mrs. Rachel and her husband in 2004. Since then it has grown through the years to support and house many orphaned children from the surrounding communities.
BAPS Charities together with the main sponsor of the event Mr. Per Patel extended support to the home by donating several supplies:
250 kg Maize, 200 kg Beans, 192 kg Maize Meal, 125 kg Rice, 20 kg Salt, 20 kg Cooking Fat, 20 kg Sugar, 120 kg Baking flour, 12 tubes Toothpaste, 5 boxes Biscuits, 120 pieces of clothing, 160 pieces toilet tissue, and 300 notebooks.
The children, Mrs. Rachel, her husband, and the caregivers of the Home appreciated Mr. Per and the BAPS Charities volunteers present during the event for their generous support.
In celebration of the donation event the volunteers cut cake with the children who sang and ate merrily. All the children were overjoyed by this simple gesture.
