Volunteers from BAPS Charities in Preston collected food for the needy and homeless in December 2020 as part of its on-going commitment to serve the local community. The collection was part of a nationwide drive across 12 centres around the UK, with BAPS Charities supporting a number of local charities during this particularly difficult time.
This year’s collective effort did not include clothing due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. However, 100 cans and 20kg of soup, vegetables, microwavable meals and snacks were deposited at Emmaus Preston. The local charity provides a home and work to people who have been homeless or socially excluded.
Ambrish Limbachia, a lead volunteer for BAPS Charities, shared, “Winter is a particularly challenging time of year for the homeless in Preston, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic. The work of Emmaus is truly heartwarming and we hope our donation can bring some comfort to those in need.”
