Despite the United States’ economic prosperity, nearly 50 million Americans go hungry every day, including 33.3 million adults and 15.8 million children. National statistics estimate that 1 in 6 Americans cannot afford to put a meal on their table daily. Children in the US are even more vulnerable.
BAPS Charities held its annual food drive in Pittsburgh, PA, benefiting the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank on August 23, 2019, to support the cause of fighting hunger as part of the larger community. Volunteers of all ages and community participants collectively donated over 130 canned and dried food items. BAPS Charities organized similar food drives across North America to assist local and nearby families during the holiday season.
