Oral health is a window to our overall health. To maintain good oral health, prevention is the key. Oral diseases, which range from cavities to gum disease to oral cancer are costly, disabling and painful. Oral health is also linked to heart disease, stroke, endocarditis, respiratory diseases, arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, and gastrointestinal diseases.
To help raise awareness regarding dental care, BAPS Charities organized a health awareness lecture in Washington DC on July 28, 2019.
The health awareness lecture presented by Dr. Aemish Rao discussed the importance of developing healthy dental care habits of brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist regularly. The audience was also educated on dietary habits and preventative measures such as avoiding high sugar-content food, drinking more water, and limiting acidic foods to prevent tooth or gum disease.
