On July 14, 2019, BAPS Charities hosted Walk Green 2019 in Vancouver, British Columbia, with over 150 participants in attendance. In the true spirit of community service, this year’s walkathon supported the environmental initiatives of BAPS Charities as well as the life-saving work of the Surrey Hospital Foundation and the William Osler Health System Foundation (which comprises of the Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre).
Across North America, 2019 marks the fourth year that the annual BAPS Charities walkathon will help protect the environment. BAPS Charities North America contributed towards the planting of 361,000 trees to The Nature Conservancy to support their initiative to plant a billion trees globally by 2025.
BAPS Charities uses these opportunities to instill a spirit of service and commitment to preservation and environmental responsibility in community members. Events such as the Walkathon help to instill consciousness in community members surrounding their actions, and, in turn, helps inspire global harmony.
