BAPS Charities hosted a Walkathon on Sunday, 2 September 2018, where approximately 380 enthusiastic walkers participated in a 5km walk through the streets of Mayfair-West, Johannesburg. Young and old, people came together to walk for fun and for a purpose. The Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC), was chosen as the beneficiary in order to raise awareness of children afflicted with the disease. Regional representative of CHOC, Ms. Tarryn Seegers, was the honorary guest and received a donation of R50 000 (USD 3540) from BAPS Charities to help further their mission in South Africa. Ms. Seegers spoke eloquently about the challenges that children with cancer face and thanked BAPS Charities for the donation which was beyond their expectations. Representatives from the South African Bone Marrow Association were also present to encourage participants to register for bone marrow donations.
