BAPS Charities pledged to support 101 children suffering from heart disease, who are unable to afford the surgeries due to lack of financial resources. About 500 children (Heart Patients) are in dire need of surgery at different level of urgency, out of which 101 children are going to be operated in the year 2016 at a rate of 10 children every month.
BAPS Charities will contribute Tanzanian Shillings Tshs. 2,200,000/- (US$1000) towards each operation.
A brief ceremony was held at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Center at Muhimbili National Hospital – Dar Es Salaam, which was graced by the Minister of Health, heart surgeons and the families of children suffering from heart disease.
During the ceremony, a cheque of Tshs. 222,200,000/- (US$ 101000/-) was handed over to The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ms. Ummy Ally Mwalimu.
The Honorable Minister wholeheartedly thanked for the generous support from BAPS Charities and for its timely contribution towards this urgent need and also urged to other organization to come forward and assist the needy patients.
The activity was concluded with assurance from the Chairman of BAPS Charities – Tanzania that each surgery will be closely monitored in post-operative care to ensure positive results.
