On Sunday 6th September, BAPS Charities visited Dada’s Community and Education Centre in Kawangware, 15kms west of the City Centre. The Centre houses a Primary School, VCT Centre, Medical Centre and a Women’s Vocational Training Centre.
The school currently educates 135 students from pre-primary, standard one up to standard 8. They currently have 6 students who are going to sit for the National Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exams in November. Majority of the 135 students are orphaned and 50 out of the 135 are living within the Centre’s housing complex.
As part of BAPS Charities Education pillar the Nairobi Chapter decided to enhance the education at the Centre by donating text books. Average of 12 sets of text books were donated for all the classes from Standard 1 to Standard 8.
Speaking during the distribution, Nitin Mandaliya, Member of the BAPS Charities said “BAPS Charities aim is to drive self-sustaining projects, which lead to long-term self-sufficiency. Enabling education will empower the future of the orphans.”
