Health Awareness Lecture on Women’s Preventive Healthcare in Indianapolis, IN

We have heard over and over that prevention is better than a cure. But cost, busy schedules or reluctance prevent some people from seeking important preventive care. While regular physical examinations and needed screenings including lab testing helps find diseases at earlier stages, skipping important screenings increases the risk of illness. If five health prevention strategies, namely, mammogram, annual flu shot, colorectal cancer screening, tobacco counseling and aspirin for CVD prevention are carried out by 90% of women, it could save more than 100,000 lives a year in US, according to a research reported in the Mayo Clinic Women’s Healthsource.

BAPS Charities organized a health awareness lecture on January 29, 2012 on the important topic of Women’s Preventive Healthcare. The lecture organized at over 50 centers helped the participants decide which tests are required at a certain age in woman and educated them on each of the preventive health tests.
