2,000 trees planted during Phase 2 of a Nationwide tree planting drive, an effort to mitigate climate change – Kenya, April 2024

On Sunday 21st April 2024, during Phase 2 of a Nationwide Tree planting drive, additional BAPS Charities chapters within Kenya planted a total of 2,000 seedlings, bringing the total planted seedlings for this project to 6,750.

Climate change poses one of the greatest challenges of our time, with wide-spread impacts to ecosystems and communities around the world. The significance of these tree planting exercises is our commitment to protecting the planet and preserving its natural resources for generations to come. By planting trees, we are not only mitigating the impacts of climate change but also creating green spaces that enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, and secure our water sources.

During Phase 2 the following seedlings were planted by the relevant chapters in collaboration with environmentally focused organizations:

  1. 1. Eldoret – 1,500
    2. Narok – 500

 

In Phase 1 the following number of seedlings were planted:

1. Nairobi – 2,500

2. Nakuru – 1,500

3. Bomet – 550

4. Kakamega – 100

5. Thika – 100

The total for Phase 1 and 2 of the National tree planting campaign is a significant 6,750 seedlings. Together, let’s plant the seeds of change and cultivate a greener, more sustainable world for future generations.
